Hello! I’m Amy.
I started this blog as I wanted to share the travel plans, experiences, tools, kit and tips that have given me the excitement, awe and affection for travel that I feel so full and fortunate to have, so that interested readers might experience this too.
I have travelled to 46 countries. Thinking about and planning travel is really fun for me, but I also still find it very confusing and overwhelming to enter the unknown no matter how many times I have done it! Some of my best travel experiences have come from trawling travel blogs, but I have also found that I can’t always find the information or types of detail that I would personally want, or that they are hard to navigate, swarmed with too much detail and ad pop ups. I hope this site can bring you confidence in travelling to places you already want to but aren’t sure where to start, or to discover new places to adventure to.
To do this I have been as clear as I can in my guides, acknowledging my preferences and bias whilst trying to stick to being brief and frank with route plans and descriptions. I have shared what I did and why, as well as other things I thought or heard about and why I didn’t do them. I have commented on things like budget and feelings of safety, whilst not centring them as they are very personal and dynamic. Instead I have given summaries of my circumstance at the time of each trip to try to support your own judgement on what might be best and fun for you. I also share equipment and kit that has worked well for me. Generally, I go for more active adventures, spending minimal time in cities and more time in rural areas with lots of outdoor activities. I work full time so my trips are all using annual leave, and I’d call them budget-ish (I’ve outgrown dorms and shared bathrooms but still have to be budget conscious). I separately write travel stories in more detail, trying to bring alive some of my favourite experiences so you can think if you would like to feel and experience them too.
I also started this blog as an outlet and way of learning and nurturing my creativity through writing about what brings me so much joy, fun and intrigue. I love reading and photography, and used to write a lot, so thought why not discover and develop my artistry as a part of the adventure too!
